Grateful for Homemade Freshly Milled Rice with a Home Rice Milling Machine, Chikuma-shi, Nagano, Japan
It is said that white rice oxidizes easily, so this year I decided to buy and store a bit more brown rice. However, I’m not very good at eating brown rice as it is. So, I decided to purchase a home rice milling machine.
The machine is smaller than I had imagined and offers many options for rice milling, ranging from 70%-polished rice to 30%-polished rice. I usually choose half-milled rice.
Half-milled rice can be cooked just as easily as white rice and provides the same soft texture as white rice. Freshly milled rice at every meal is incredibly delicious and brings me so much happiness.
By the way, this wonderful home rice milling machine is made by MK Seiko, a company based in Chikuma-shi, Nagano Prefecture. Since I was born in Nagano myself, I feel a deep connection to the company and want to support them even more. Also, the name of the machine that has captivated me is "Beautiful Lady of Rice Milling." I can’t help but wish its magical power could make me beautiful, too!
