I first encountered Vadim Zeland’s books in 2016, all of which were, of course, in Japanese. Despite being translated, I found them very difficult to grasp in terms of their essence. The books I purchased back then have significantly increased in value since their release, yet I have no intention of selling them.
Currently, I’m reading his latest work, TUFTI the Priestess: Live Stroll Through a Movie. After finishing the Japanese version, I decided to challenge myself with the English edition. It’s very difficult but also incredibly fascinating.
I see parallels between TUFTI the Priestess and the Japanese onmyoji of the Heian period. Like the onmyoji, Tufti offers methods to navigate life in this world and protect ourselves from its challenges. TUFTI uses the intention plait, but Onmyoji use pentagrams, hexagrams, and other spells to form spiritual barriers. I think that the intention plait is one kind of spiritual barrier.
